Introduced in 1901,
the powerful flavour of the Bolivar range is almost as widely know as
it's namesake, Simon Bolivar (1783-1830), the celebrated Venezuelan
warrior who liberated all or part of what is today Venezuela, Columbia,
Peru and Bolivia. The cigar brand was developed by the Jose Rocha
Company and manufactured at the El Crepusculo factory, but was later
acquired by Menendez, Garcia y Cia.
General Cigar Co. has given the Bolivar brand an extreme makeover with the intent to provide smokers with a flavorful powerhouse cigar and with input from master blenders such as Benji Menendez, Estelo Padrón and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo; they have made
it one of the boldest, most full-bodied cigars in the General Cigar portfolio.
This cigar is dressed in a thick, full-bodied wrapper of Honduran San Agustin Ligero and is bound with Havano Medio Tiempo. The blend for
it consists of Dominican tobacco, complemented by Nicaraguan filler from Esteli, and from the remote volcanic island of Ometepe. Bolivar is rich and spicy, medium to full-bodied; it packs a little kick while staying smooth and flavorful.
