Gewurztraminer
is the second most widely planted grape in Alsace. It is also found in
Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, New Zealand and occasionally in
California. The wine can be fermented dry or sweet, and tends to be
extremely rich with benchmark aromas of lychee. As the grape tends
towards very high sugar levels, later harvest Gewurztraminer are some of
the most explosive moelleux in the world.
