Sauvignon
Blanc is the most prominent grape in Bordeaux and the eastern Loire
Valley. The variety has also had great success in New Zealand, South
Africa, and California’s Russian River Valley. In Bordeaux, Sauvignon
Blanc is frequently blended with Semillon in the production of white
Graves and other Bordeaux blancs. In the hillside vineyard towns of
Sancerre and Pouilly-Sur-Loire, Sauvignon Blanc yields highly aromatic,
racy wines with great mineral complexity. In New Zealand, the style is
riper, with intensely fruity, melon-like flavors and aromas.
